It’s a new solution to navigate between the launch settings and the latest iOS 15. Safari on iPadOS is a different beast in that it’s far more like Safari on macOS — URL bar still at the top, tabs in line, etc. So let’s go there. It is also jarring using the new Safari in macOS Monterey (but also available with the Safari Technology Preview) at first.

We recently checked out the Tata Safari Gold edition which was not only a fancier-looking Safari but also a feature-loaded one with many new features. Of course, it was only a matter of time before the standard Safari got the features from the Gold edition and Tata has just done that now. The XT and XZ variants of the Tata Safari now get new features so let’s take a look at the updated features list:

What more do you get?

The XT and the XTA variants now get an in-built air purifier. The XZ and XZA variants get an air purifier, wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, and wireless charging. The rest of the features remain unchanged throughout the range. One thing to note is that the Safari range doesn’t get the first and second-row ventilated seats that the Gold edition gets. Prices for the updated variants have been hiked by ₹7,000-₹12,000.

Tata Safari: a quick recap

Tata had launched the new 2021 Safari in India at a starting price of INR 14.69 Lakh (ex-showroom). The SAfari is available in six trims namely – XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ, and XZ+. The Impact 2.0 design language of the new Safari has proven to be reliable and safe. The Safari’s tall stance has been enhanced in the new avatar like the elegant grille, the stepped roof, and the tailgate has been given some cool finishes. A strong stance, wheel arches, and some accenting of chrome give the new Safari a good look. The interior of the Safari has an Oyster White interior theme, paired with an Ash Wood dashboard.

The grille is similar to the Harrier but is all chrome on the Safari instead of the piano black finish on the Harrier. Available in 6/7 seat configurations, the Tata Safari fights for its place with the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar and the MG Hector Plus. Mechanically, the Safari is powered by the same 2.0L fiat sourced 4 cylinder Kyrotec turbo diesel engine which puts out 170PS of peak power and 350Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox unit. It shares its platform and architecture with the Harrier is 63mm longer and 80mm taller than the Harrier

iOS 15 Safari Tips and Tricks

Apple introduces many new features apart from the user interface changes in Safari and some of these features can be accessed from the Settings app. Let’s check out all these hidden features, tips, and tricks in the new Safari in iOS 15.

Move the tab bar up

With the UI changes in the Safari browser, Apple wanted to make browsing easier with one hand, so it moved the tab bar to the bottom. However, if your brain is not trained in this, you can still go back to the old design:

1. Go to the Settings app on your phone and select Safari.

2. Now, scroll down and go to the tabs section.

3. Here, you will see two options – Tab Bar and Single Tab.

4. Now press “one tab” and that’s it.

You can go to Safari and check that the tab bar is now moved to the top of the screen.

Alternatively, you can also switch between the lower and upper tab bars by clicking on the “AA” icon and choosing between “Show top address bar” or “Show bottom tab bar.”

Customizable home page

Another good feature introduced in iOS 15 is a customizable start page in Safari. Usually, here you will find favorites, frequently visited items, privacy reports, reading lists, etc. However, if you want to customize it according to your needs, here’s how to do it:

1. Open the Safari start page by going to a new tab.

2. Now scroll down and click on Edit.

3. Here, you will see all the options that can be available on your start page. You can simply switch to that item that you don’t want to see on the start page.

4. Moreover, you can also change the background image here or even upload your own by pressing the + sign.

Please note that you can use the same start page on all your devices as Safari syncs them through your iCloud account. For this, you’ll need to toggle at the top next to “Use Home on all devices”.

Tab groups

You can also create groups of tabs in Safari using the iOS 15 update. This feature is not new for many users because other browsers like Chrome already have this. To use tab groups in Safari, follow the steps listed below:

1. Go to Safari on your iPhone and open the tabs you want to group.

2. Now, tap on the tabs icon (two squares) at the bottom right.

3. On the tab screen, click on the option that shows the number of tabs now open.

4. From the next page, you will have two options to create a tab group – “New Blank Tab Group”, or “New Tab Group from this tab.

5. Press the second option to place the currently open tabs in the tab group. Vsco.

6. You can now name your tab group, and click on Save.

The new tab group will appear in the tabs section and you can access it by clicking on the two squares icon and then on No. of tabs. To delete or edit a tab group, open the tab groups page and swipe left on the group.

landscape mode

Landscape mode in Safari shows your open tabs at the top of your screen and you can click and switch between them just as you would on your computer. This is useful when you don’t want to click the Tab icon to switch tabs. Here’s how to enable this feature:

1. Open Settings on your iPhone.

2. Scroll down and select “Safari”.

Swipe between Safari tabs

A new solution to scrolling between tabs was introduced with the iOS 15 update. You can now scroll between open tabs instead of doing so by tapping on the tabs icon each time. Here’s how to use this:

1. Open Safari on your phone and visit multiple web pages.

2. Now, if you want to go to the next tab, just swipe from right to left.

3. Similarly, swipe left to right to move to a previous tab.

That’s it. You can scroll through as many tabs as you want by just scrolling.

live text

We have already talked about this feature of the Photos app before. As mentioned, this feature allows you to copy text from images and then paste it anywhere or you can even translate it. Here’s how to use this feature in Safari:

5. Then press “Copy” or “Select All” to copy all the text.

Website Shading

Website shading is a very useful feature for those who have trouble displaying sharp colors on different websites. This feature changes Safari’s interface around tabs and navigation areas to match the color of the website you’re viewing, so it’s easy for the eyes to lose track of how long.

Here’s how to enable this:

1. Just like you do with other features, visit Settings.

2. Select Safari and scroll down to the Tabs section.

3. Here enable the toggle for “Allow website shading”.

That’s it. Now when you open a website, say Facebook, you will see a blue tab and navigation area on Safari. You can disable it by following the same steps if it turns out to be annoying.

Browser Extensions

The latest iOS update also brings web extension support on Safari. You can install these third-party extensions from the App Store.
